DELHI UNIVERSITY DECIDES TO POSTPONE EXAMS TILL AUGUST; PETITIONS CHALLENGING DU EXAM NOTIFICATION REFERRED TO DIVISION BENCH OF DELHI HC

The Delhi University has decided to postpone the examinations till August 2020, but has not provided a specific date for the examinations. Upon receipt of this information Single Bench of Justice Prathiba M Singh in a writ petition challenging the decision of the Delhi University to conduct open book examinations (OBE) on July 10, the court directed all the petitions concerning the DU examinations to be transferred before the Division Bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Subramonium Prasad. The court was also informed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has issued a revised Office Memorandum wherein the Universities are asked to conduct their examinations by September 2020. The mode of conducting the examinations, online or offline, has been left to be decided by the concerned Universities after taking into consideration the preparedness of the students as well as other factors.
